How 5 Simple Eco Friendly Substitutes Can Help You To Live More Consciously

Today I wanted to share with you how 5 simple eco friendly substitutes can help you to live more consciously.

Water Bottles

One of the easiest ways to reduce waste and even save money is to invest in a good reusable, eco friendly water bottle. This will not only help to save the planet but it will also keep you hydrated all day long.

Water Filters

2 words: Water filter. My mother has always had one of the Brita Filters and she has gifted us one when we moved into our new apartment, but the demand for water filters is increasing again. If you live in London, you are familiar with tap water. It can taste quite strong. Water filters can help to reduce chlorine, limescale as well as other impurities. By switching to water filters you will not only have filtered water at your disposal, oh no, that is not the only benefit. The other two benefits are 1) you will never have to carry bottles of water home 2) No more plastic! Filter your water and fill it up into a glass bottle and keep it in your fridge. Genius!

Reusable Ziplock Bags

Reusable ziplock bags are great. They come in many sizes and colors. They are very affordable & eco friendly. You can stack them in your fridge/freezer. They are very compact and do not take up much space when it comes to storage. They are leak proof. Made of food-grade silicone and they can be washed and used over and over again. I strongly recommend them.

Beeswax Wraps

Say goodbye to aluminum foil & cling film! Beeswax wraps are great. They are made out of cotton and beeswax.. literally. You can purchase them or you can make your own. I have created some a few years ago and they are still good. I haven’t purchased aluminum foil and cling film in ages. I will write a separate post on how to make them.

Eco Friendly Make-Up Remover Pads & Cloths

I first started using muslin cloths for my face when I purchased the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish face wash back when I was at uni. It comes with 2 muslin cloths but I have purchased 5 more so that I have 1 for each day of the week. I haven’t bought any makeup remover wipes or cotton pads since. I recommend using the muslin cloths with The Body Shop’s Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter (which by the way comes in a metal tin!). I had to switch up my face cleansing routine due to some skin irritation and I can say that the combination of those 2 products has helped me to keep my face clean and my eczema at bay.

What are some changes that you have made?
