Today I would like to write about my favorite John Green quotes. I know, I know, that’s so 2010.. but I don’t care. John once wrote: “Maybe our favorite quotations say more about us than about the stories and people we’re quoting.” and that is very true. I will try to add a little explanation and reasons why I like the below quotes. If you have been on Tumblr between 2008 & 2014, then chances are, that you are fairly familiar with the below quotes.
As always, they are not sorted in any particular order. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.
“Imagining the future is a kind of nostalgia…”
I often find myself daydreaming and thinking about the future and situations that haven’t happened, so that I completely get distracted and forget to live in the moment. I think a lot of us do that. While I think it is important to live in the moment, I think that it is equally important to dream of the future. We just have to find the right balance.
“They love their hair because they’re not smart enough to love something more interesting.”
I feel like this describes our society a lot. It has always been relevant and we all have experienced situations in which it was more important what you look like than what you think.
“Some tourists think Amsterdam is a city of sin, but in truth, it is a city of freedom & in freedom, most people find sin.”
This quote is very true. It is not the things that are bad, it’s the humans that make bad decisions.
“My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations.”
I just like this quote.
“That’s always seemed so ridiculous to me, that people want to be around someone because they’re pretty. It’s like picking your breakfast cereals based on color instead of taste.”
“We cannot be born, and we cannot die. Like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations.”
This quote reminds me of the Avatar movie as there is a similar quote by Neytiri and like to think that it is true
“I just did some calculations and I’ve been able to determine that you’re full of shit.”
I loved this quote since I have read it for the first time.
“But it is the nature of stars to cross, and never was Shakespeare more wrong than when he has Cassius note, ‘The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars – but in ourselves.”
I like the ways this quote is written. Not sure why. I just do.
“It’s a metaphor, see: You put the killing thing right between your teeth, but you don’t give it the power to do its killing.”
Classic Augustus Waters. Classic.
