Coffee Recipes, For People That Don’t Like The Taste Of Coffee

Today I wanted to share with you my top 3 Coffee Recipes For People That Don’t Like The Taste Of Coffee. There is nothing better than the smell of fresh coffee in the morning, no matter how tired I am, the smell of coffee will gently wake me up.

There is something very cozy about it. I grew up in Croatia and my grandma used to make Turkish coffee early in the morning and whenever I woke up I was greeted with the nostalgic scent of coffee. I can drink one Turkish coffee a day, but I am not a massive fan. I also can’t drink coffee from coffee machines, as I find it very acidic.

Since I really like the idea of drinking a coffee first thing in the morning, I have been trying many, many things in order to find out what kind of coffee I enjoy and what preparation I like. Today I would like to share with you my findings and favorite coffee recipes. Enjoy!

First things first: The preparation! I have found two ways of preparation that work for me. These are:

Moka Pot On The Stove

I personally use the Bialetti Moka Express Hob Espresso Maker every day and if you haven’t used a Moka Pot before I will try and explain it below:

  1. Grind coffee or buy pre-ground coffee (make sure that it is not too fine)
  2. Fill the lower part of your Moka maker with cold water. Make sure to stop before the valve
  3. Fill the basket with coffee and do not press. Just let your coffee sit there comfortably
  4. Assemble your Moka maker and make sure that the top part is screwed on properly
  5. Wait for the water to boil (do not go anywhere, or it will boil over)
  6. Once the water has boiled the upper chamber will be filled with coffee

Peppermint Mocha

Peppermint Mocha is one of my favorite drinks, not only in winter but all year round. I used to go to Starbucks very often, but since I have improved my own recipe, I can enjoy a Peppermint Mocha from the comfort of my home. Here is how I prepare Peppermint Mocha:

  1. Prepare coffee
  2. Pour milk into the milk frother
  3. Add 1 tablespoon of raw cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon of Peppermint Syrup (I use the Green Mint Syrup by Monin) & 1/2 tablespoon sugar
  4. Add 1 tablespoon of the milk into the mug and stir until it looks like brownie batter
  5. Pour your milk into the mug and follow up with coffee
  6. Pour your milk froth on top and drizzle peppermint syrup on top

I personally use dairy-free milk, as I am lactose intolerant, but you can use any milk that you prefer.

Cinnamon Latte

Last Christmas my boyfriend’s brother and his girlfriend gifted me their favorite coffee and I do not really open it… UNTIL NOW! The other day I made the coffee in rush, sat down for my meeting, and as I took a sip of the coffee, I was overwhelmed.

The flavor is called “Jamaican Me Crazy” by Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters and it is the best coffee that I have tasted in my life. It smells like cinnamon, and pecans, and rum and autumn. If you were able to put the feeling of the first day of October, crispy leaves, long walks in the forest & seasons changing into a cup, that is what this coffee tastes like. It is difficult to explain, as the aromas create more of a feeling rather than a taste alone. Below you can find out how I make my favorite Cinnamon Late:

  1. Prepare Coffee
  2. Pour the milk into the frother and wait until it gets warm and frothy
  3. Add 1/2 teaspoons of sugar and 1 teaspoons of Cinnamon into your mug
  4. Pour the milk into the mug making sure that the froth stays on top
  5. Pour Coffee over the milk
  6. Add a dash of cinnamon on top
  7. Enjoy!

This is definitely one of my favorite coffee recipes!

Cold Brew In The Fridge

As is suffer from IBS, I often can not tolerate coffee and all of the recipes that I have included in this blogpost do not cause me any problem. However, the least acidic drink is probably a good old Cold Brew. I have to admit that I drink Cold Brews in any season.

A Cold Brew is basically coffee that has been steeped in cold water from 18-24 hours in the fridge. It is surprisingly easy to make it and here is one of my favorite Cold Crew coffee recipes:

  1. Grind your coffee beans – make sure that they are not too fine. I grind mine for 7 seconds as if feel that that way the cold brew has an intense and full-bodied taste while still being silky smooth. I also like number 7…
  2. Add coffee to a glass jug, cold brew maker, french press… it works with anything. I either opt for a giant glass jar or the french press, as this allows me to strain the coffee grounds easier. The best ration is 1:5 coffee to water
  3. Let it sit in the fridge overnight. the longer you let it steep, the more intense the cold brew concentrate will become
  4. On the next day, strain your coffee and add it to a jug or storage container of your choice
  5. Pour yourself a glass of cold brew over ice, with milk or just by itself
  6. Enjoy!

Vanilla Cold Brew

During the summer months, I enjoy drinking a cold Vanilla Cold Brew with lots of ice. Here is how I prepare it:

  1. Make Cold Brew over night
  2. Add ice to your tumbler or glass
  3. Add milk to your milk frother and put it on the cold setting until it is frothy
  4. Pur vanilla syrup over your ice
  5. Pour your cold milk over the ice and vanilla syrup
  6. Add the Cold Brew to your tumbler
  7. Enjoy!

I personally do not mix the ice, milk, and coffee, as I like the way it gets sweeter the more you drink it and I also like the way the layers look. Making Cold Brew at home is definitely the most economical and the quickest way to enjoy good coffee (minus the acidity) at home.

Do you like coffee? What is your favorite coffee drink? 🙂
